REDWOODS
Redwood National & State Parks  Prairie Creek Redwoods Visitor Center,  Newton Drury Scenic Parkway exit off Hwy 101, North of Orick  (707) 465-7354 Day Use & Camping.  Park also features Roosevelt elk, Fern Canyon and has coastal access.  Closest city to the south is Orick.  
Fern Canyon - 50ft. walls carpeted with ferns & mosses.  Davison Rd., 3 miles No of Orick, follow unpaved rd all the way to the coast, continue north to parking - 3 mi.
Humboldt Redwoods State Park Avenue of the Giants - between Scotia & Garberville, along Hwy 101. Visitor Center, Weott  707-946-2263 Home to the Rockefeller Forest, largest remaining old growth redwood forest in the world.  Day use, camping & river access.   
Drive Thru Tree -  The Shrine Drive - Thru Tree is four miles south of Weott, 13078 Avenue of the Giants, Myers Flat, CA 95554  - Gift shop  707 943 1658.  Admission Fee - Call for hours.  
EUREKA  Historic Old Town Eureka:  Between 1st & 5th  from C to M Streets. Victorian heritage - restored district of unique shops, restaurants, coffee shops, galleries & museums with a boardwalk overlooking Humboldt Bay and the famous Carson Mansion on 2nd & M.
Clarke Historical Museum: Third & E Sts in Old Town.  Formerly the 1912 "Bank of Eureka" building, a landmark and important part of local history. 707-443-1947
Humboldt Bay Harbor Cruise on the Madaket:  Foot of F Street - Tour Humboldt Bay on one of its original ferries and learn about the history of the bay. One hour cruise travels along the Eureka Waterfront. Seasonal 707-445-1910

Carson Mansion - Often called the most photographed Victorian in the United States. A picturesque blend of Victorian architectural styles.  Visitors are welcome to view the mansion and take photos from the sidewalk.  134 M St., Eureka -2nd & L Sts.
Sequoia Park & Zoo    Children's Barnyard & petting zoo, walk-in aviary, and the popular primates, over 70 acres of old-growth redwood forest to explore. Also kids playground, picnic area & cafe 3414 W Street  707-441-4263
ORICK  Gateway to Redwood National & State Parks - Main Street lined with redwood burl shops.  Redwood National & State Park, home of the world's tallest trees, Fern Canyon and Roosevelt elk.
TRINIDAD  Picturesque village on ocean bluffs.  Memorial Lighthouse at the end of Main Street overlooks the Trinidad Harbor. Hiking trail on Trinidad Head, surfing at State Beach, HSU Marine Lab with touch tanks for the kids, 570 Ewing St. 707-826-3671.  Patrick's Point State Park with camping and lots of hiking trails.      
ARCATA  Arcata Plaza, is the social and commercial center of Arcata.  Delightful shops offer locally handcrafted merchandise, sports equipment, (kayaks, bikes, etc.) boutiques, bars, and restaurants. Humboldt State University
WILLOW CREEK  on Hwy 299, less than an hour from the coast. Whitewater rafting, kayaking, backpacking, fishing AND Bigfoot. The legend began here in the 1950's.  China Flat Museum has the world's largest collection of Bigfoot curios and plaster foot casts.  530-629-2653

FERNDALE Victorian Ferndale  - Virtually unchanged since the 1800s, a living history museum of Victoriana. Splendidly ornate buildings known as "Butterfat Palaces comprise a major part of town.  (Some have been converted to B&B's). SHELTER COVE & THE LOST COAST  Located on Northern California's remotest coastline, Shelter Cove is a gateway to the Lost Coast. From here you can hike the Lost Coast and venture into the vastness of the King Range Conservation Area, whether it be a day or a week.  Fish, spend time investigating  tidepools or stroll on nearby Black Sands Beach.  Visit the Cape Mendocino Lighthouse at Mal Coombs Park.
